Did you know over 1000 teenagers (more than half of which were from LA) came together at Camp Roberts this past weekend to learn, model, and cultivate their civic and social leadership skills through the legislative and court processes—and you all had a major part to play in making it possible.
YMCA teens from across California attended our first in-person conference since 2019, challenging themselves to realize personal goals and empower their peers to do the same. LA delegates excelled, with the three Youth Governor finalists all being from our association. Our teens worked tirelessly through the weekend to prepare for our 75th Model Legislature and Court taking place in Sacramento this February.
On behalf of the regional team, we’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to all of our Directors, Coordinators & Volunteers for the hard work dedicated to our conference weekend. A special shout out to metro staff Raul Pineda, Joshua Miyakawa, Ruben Roman, and Wallis Locke for supporting us throughout the conference. Without you all, our delegates would not have found the successes that will fuel their continued enthusiasm for this program into the new year.
If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about Y&G please reach out to the regionals or your local Teen Director.
