Free Preschool for Children of Essential Workers

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles—in partnership with local hospitals and municipalities—has provided over 22,000 FREE child care hours to children of essential workers during the COVID-19 Stay-At-Home order.

While schools and child care sites remain closed until further notice, many children across Los Angeles have lost their access to daily food and nutritious meals and have become at risk of falling behind academically.

With state assistance, the LA Y is providing free Preschool to children at-risk and children of essential workers at the three (3) state funded child care sites listed below.

Our Preschool facilities provide a safe and nurturing environment with trained child care providers. Children will be taught a curriculum aligned with the State of California’s education standards while closely adhering to all CDC social distancing guidelines.

Children will also be provided with home learning opportunities which include worksheets with numbers and alphabets, fun arts and crafts ideas as well as physical activities to stay healthy and active at home.
