National Judicial Competition (NJC)
National Judicial Competition
For High School Students
NJC is a YMCA-sponsored competition consisting of a national-level Mock Trial (criminal court) and a Model Supreme Court (appellate). For the past two years, the Center for Youth Voice, (Minnesota’s Y&G) has hosted NJC in Minneapolis-St.Paul, MN. Students in grades 9-12 from across the country choose one track or the other and prepare all aspects of the case. Giving young people immersive experiences in the law provides them reasoning skills and confidence that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
Students will meet virtually with NJC Advisors prior to the conference to prepare as well as participate in a 1-Day in person training within the state of California. Only participants from this year's MLC Program can be selected for a spot in the California delegation. Up to 10 delegates and 2 alternates will be selected. This high-achieving group of students expand on the legal processes learned in their state programs and build their skills at an even higher level.
The 2025 application for delegates and advisors, along with other important deadlines and information, will be shared in January 2026 check back! 2025 NJC dates/locations are TBA.
